Friends and Fam! A photo I took at my nonprofit has been chosen to participate in GlobalGiving’s online photo contest!! 1st place winner receives $1,000…
I feel like sometimes tumblr has a lot of negative energy tied to it… so I wanted to share some of my deviantART journal here…
I get lots of compliments on my photography and styling my BJD - and believe me I’m super appreciative! I love seeing the positive comments you guys leave me. Makes me happy… but I did have to start somewhere!
I started somewhere… and that means you did/are/will start somewhere too!
You DID start somewhere: If you’ve got a great eye for your art that you create - keep in mind you started somewhere. Don’t hold yourself ‘better’ than anyone! Offer advice and try to spread your arts genre love! Your art field is only going to improve with a community. Don’t fall into the ‘elitists’ section - hoarding tips and tricks for yourself and a group of close-knit friends. You’ll enjoy yourself much more knowing that you’ve helped inspire and create art…
You ARE starting somewhere: If you are starting out, don’t get discouraged by other’s art that you feel is where you want to be… practice it’s exactly what they did! Enjoy your art journey though, it’s going to be something you look back on and smile about later. Try to keep in mind that it’s all about fun and enjoying what you’re doing… realizing you’ve just hit a milestone in your art or that something finally ‘clicks’ in your head! For me, the above image on the right… that was a milestone. I’ve finally started using flash in a way that I feel in control and finally having it make sense to me!
You WILL start somewhere: Maybe you’re still thinking about jumping into a hobby… maybe you’re too scared to try - comparing yourself to the ‘popular’ people or those that just seem to be oh-so-amazing… thinking things like "I could never do that…"Stop it. You can! You could even be better than what you expect yourself to be! Keep your chin up - dive into your interest and stay positive about it - don’t be afraid to ask questions… You’ll never know if you don’t try… and you’ll more than likely regret never trying.
